April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) began her musical journey at the age of 7 when she took guitar and piano lessons. at the age of 12, April wrote her first song Different. When she was 14 April was a big devotee of her day writing and practicing songs. Then, she began taking trips to NY and LA together with her father to help them to write songs. April featured other topics in her hit song, Take my Hand. These topics were for friends that dealt with things like peer pressure disabilities or even teen suicidal thoughts. Lockhart also has an ever-growing popularity as a lifestyle influencer and works for popular Clean Beauty company Ilia. She was born without a left hand and that creates her unique. However, this isn't the only characteristic of her. Lockhart's Instagram account doesn't ignore her handicap. But it also doesn't emphasize her disability. What message does it convey? The message is that we are more than our physical selves. Our identities are complicated and encompass a variety of aspects. Lockhart in a video messages from his Nashville home, states I don't want that to be a part of my character. I'm greater than the physical person I am. However, it doesn't affect my day-to-day life. I still do all the things I normally would and have adapted to my disabilities. The same is true for my personality, and it should be discussed. Lockhart has been a great inspiration to her fellow women regarding self-acceptance. She has been through times when she felt uncomfortable in the way she dressed and displayed her arms. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she likes. She also posts her pictures to social media. One of the keys to self-love for her is the fact that it's not a place to go. It's a long journey. I don't think you ever get there. I believe that it's really important to surround yourself with people who can discern and understand your heart.
